 Prompt: The topic that challenged me most focused on personal struggles. Writing about internal problems felt harder than writing about growth or success. I had to think more deeply about moments I usually ignore. Finding clear comparisons took extra time and effort. I worked through this by thinking about real experiences and emotions instead of forcing ideas. Next time, I would plan examples first before writing the figurative language.

Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

 Entering my freshman year of high school was a shock to the system. I went from being one of the oldest in my middle school to the youngest in a massive, overwhelming new environment. The hallways were a sea of unfamiliar faces and seniors who seemed a decade older than me. I spent a lot of my first few weeks feeling completely out of place, as if I was walking around with a giant target on my back. It was a tough adjustment, but eventually, I started finding my footing, discovering new friends and interests that made the school feel a little less intimidating. Summary: Today in class we completed a common lit since Mr. Rease was out. Reflection: I learned what the definition of Interloper was from the story "The Interlopers".

 Learning the word foreshadowing changed how I read and wrote. When I studied Romeo and Juliet , I realized Shakespeare often hinted at future events through small details or dialogue. Before, I noticed the tension but couldn’t explain how it was created. Understanding that term helped me analyze stories more deeply and build suspense more deliberately in my own writing.
